These processes are crucial to ensure that your SAP HANA system is optimally integrated into your IT landscape and remains up to date.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td><strong>tools<\/strong><\/td><td>The platform lifecycle management aspects of your SAP HANA system are customized via three user interfaces:<br>  Graphical user interface (GUI)<br>  Command line interface (CLI)<br>  Web user interface (Web UI)<br>These are available in various environments, such as SAP HANA Studio or SAP HANA Cockpit.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td><strong>system configuration<\/strong><\/td><td>The SAP HANA Database Lifecycle Manager (HDBLCM) integrates several system configuration functions, such as:<br>Initial platform configuration: integration into the landscape by registering in the System Landscape Directory (SLD) and configuring inter-service communication.<br>Topology customization: Adding or removing SAP HANA hosts.<br>System reconfiguration: changing system parameters, adapting system identifiers, moving the system to new hardware or converting it to a multitenant database system.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td><strong>administration<\/strong><\/td><td>The HDBLCM can be used to carry out the following management activities:<br>Configuration of a multi-host system<br>Integration of new hosts or removal of existing hosts<br>Establishing a connection to the System Landscape Directory (SLD)<br>Changing the system identifiers and host names<br>Relocation of the system to new hardware<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Application Lifecycle Management<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table is-style-stripes\"><table><tbody><tr><td>a<strong>bout<\/strong><\/td><td>SAP HANA Application Lifecycle Management supports all phases of the lifecycle of an SAP HANA application or add-on. From the modeling of your product structure, through development and transport, to the installation and updating of downloaded or self-created products.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td><strong>tools<\/strong><\/td><td>These aspects of lifecycle management are accessible via various interfaces:<br>  Web browser (SAP HANA XS application)<br>  Command line tool hdbalm<br>  SAP HANA Studio and SAP HANA Cockpit<\/td><\/tr><tr><td><strong>ALM Phases <\/strong><\/td><td>Modeling: Definition of the product structure for efficient software development. Creation of metadata, repository packages and assignment to delivery units.<br>Development: Software development in repository packages with change tracking for managing and transporting changes.<br>Transport: Different transport types, such as native SAP HANA transports or the Change and Transport System (CTS), depending on requirements.<br>Compilation: Creation of add-ons and products based on the developed software and the defined metadata.<br>Installation: Installation of downloaded or self-created add-ons and software components.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td><strong>administration<\/strong><\/td><td>System administrators mainly use Application Lifecycle Management to install and update SAP HANA applications or add-on products.
