HANA Transport is about transporting SAP HANA development objects from one system to another. These objects, known as SAP HANA content, include various elements such as schemas, table definitions, information views (attribute and analysis views), SQL scripts, roles and authorizations. The choice of the appropriate transport scenario depends on the type of content to be transported and the system landscape. SAP HANA Transport for ABAP (HTA) is available for ABAP-for-SAP HANA applications, while the extended Change and Transport System (CTS+) or SAP HANA Application Lifecycle Management can be used for native SAP HANA applications. Overall, the various transport scenarios for SAP HANA Content offer flexible and efficient options for managing and transporting development objects in SAP HANA-based projects. The choice of a suitable tool depends on the specific requirements and the system landscape.
We are happy to support you in the following areas:
| SAP HANA Transport for ABAP (HTA) | With the SAP HANA Transport for ABAP (HTA), SAP HANA objects and packages can be synchronized from the SAP HANA repository to ABAP and added to a standard ABAP transport request. During synchronization, you select the SAP HANA packages and objects that you want to transport together with the associated ABAP objects. When the transport request is imported into the target system, the ABAP objects and the synchronized SAP HANA packages and objects are imported into the target system and activated there. The HTA enables the synchronization of objects and packages from the SAP HANA repository into the ABAP system, whereby the active versions of the objects are always synchronized. One advantage of the HTA is its integration into the Change and Transport System (CTS) of AS ABAP. This allows SAP HANA content to be transported through the entire system landscape using the tried-and-tested ABAP transport mechanisms. You can also transport individual objects and packages from the SAP HANA repository. If complete SAP HANA delivery units (DUs) were previously transported with the HTC, you can migrate the transport procedure to HTA. |
| SAP HANA Transport Container (HTC) | A HANA Transport Container (HTC) is a logical transport object that is transported using the standard ABAP transport tools. An HTC contains all SAP HANA repository objects of a delivery unit (DU) and is attached to a standard ABAP transport request. When the transport request is imported into the target system, the ABAP objects and the SAP HANA repository objects of the DU are imported into the target system. The contents of the HANA repository are organized into specific delivery and transport structures and can be managed using the standard ABAP transport tools. HTCs ensure the seamless integration of HANA repository content into the standard Change and Transport System (CTS) of AS ABAP. This ensures that HANA content can be transported through the entire system landscape using the proven ABAP transport mechanisms. In order for an HTC to be created, a suitable HANA delivery unit must be defined in the HANA repository of the corresponding system. |
| SAP HANA Content for native SAP HANA applications or non-ABAP applications with CTS+ | The extended Change and Transport System (CTS+) is available for native SAP HANA applications or non-ABAP applications that are based on SAP HANA. CTS+ is particularly suitable for heterogeneous transport landscapes in which CTS+ is already in use. From an administration perspective, SAP HANA content is another object type that is transported with the CTS like other non-ABAP objects. The configuration effort is low and the transport tools are already known. This transport scenario is integrated into the existing CTS transport landscape and into the SAP tools for change control. |
| SAP HANA Content for native SAP HANA applications without CTS+ | SAP HANA Application Lifecycle Management is available for transporting SAP HANA content for native SAP HANA applications when CTS+ is not in use. This tool can be used to carry out transports and monitor transport processes. SAP HANA Application Lifecycle Management is particularly suitable for SAP HANA transport landscapes without ABAP development and without the need for transport synchronization with other non-HANA content. |
