Microsoft Azure Setup for SAP

The Setup for the flagship S/4HANA. The supported Microsoft Azure system configuration is about the different operating systems, database back-ends, storage types and deployment topologies that are supported in the SAP Deployment Automation Framework on Azure. The deployment VM must run on Linux, while the SAP infrastructure can be deployed on both Linux and Windows VMs. Supported operating systems include Windows Server, SUSE Linux, Red Hat Linux and Oracle Linux. Various database back-ends such as SAP HANA, ASE, DB2 and MS SQL Server are also supported. Azure offers various storage types such as Premium SSD, Ultra SSD, Azure NetApp Files and Azure Files NFS, which include options for encryption and high availability.

We are happy to support you in the following areas:

Initial SetupAzure offers comprehensive automation options that significantly simplify the operation of SAP environments, increasing efficiency and reducing costs. The automated system copies enable SAP systems to be duplicated quickly, saving time and ensuring consistency. Automated patching ensures that software versions are always up-to-date without the need for manual intervention. In addition, automated scaling automatically adjusts resources to load requirements, optimizing performance and reducing costs. Overall, Azure helps to minimize human error and relieve IT staff of routine tasks, resulting in more efficient management of SAP servers.

SAP Deployment Automation FrameworkThe SAP Deployment Automation Framework enables automated deployment of SAP workloads on the Azure Cloud. Using Terraform and Ansible, the infrastructure is set up quickly and efficiently, including the installation and configuration of SAP HANA and other SAP components. Benefits include a reduction in manual errors, faster deployment time and improved consistency of SAP environments. The framework enables scalable and repeatable deployment, which is particularly beneficial for large organizations with complex SAP landscapes. By using the framework, companies can use their IT resources more efficiently and reduce operating costs at the same time.
Ansible configurationAnsible configuration of SAP workloads on Microsoft Azure is about the automated provisioning and configuration of SAP systems using Ansible playbooks. These playbooks, such as playbook_01_os_base_config.yaml and playbook_05_00_00_sap_scs_install.yaml, enable the execution of specific tasks such as operating system configuration, installation of SAP Central Services and configuration of high availability. The benefits of using these playbooks include reducing manual errors, speeding up deployment processes and ensuring consistent and repeatable configurations. In addition, automation facilitates the management of complex SAP environments and improves the efficiency of IT resources. This enables companies to operate their SAP workloads securely, scalably and reliably in the Azure cloud.
Provision of SAP installation mediaDeploying SAP installation media e.g. for S/4HANA to Microsoft Azure involves the automated downloading and uploading of the required SAP software to an Azure storage account. The SAP Deployment Automation Framework uses a bill of materials (BOM) to identify and organize the relevant SAP media. The process involves downloading the media using the SAP Download Manager and uploading it to the designated Azure container. The advantages of this method lie in the structured and efficient management of SAP installation media, ensuring consistent deployment and reducing manual errors. In addition, automation enables faster implementation of SAP systems and improves the scalability and reliability of the IT infrastructure.
