SAP HANA Cloud as Database as a Service (DBaaS) is about providing a scalable, high-performance cloud database solution that integrates relational, graph-based, spatial and document data models and enables the development of intelligent applications with embedded machine learning. This supports real-time analytics and mission-critical applications at petabyte level.
SAP HANA Cloud thus provides a comprehensive, powerful and flexible solution for database management in the cloud, suitable for both standalone and hybrid deployments. With its advanced features and ability to integrate different types of data, it supports companies in optimizing their data processing and analysis in real time.
We are happy to support you in the following areas:
| What is the HANA Cloud? | SAP HANA Cloud provides a central location to store, process and analyze company data in real time. It is a cloud-native platform that reduces the complexity of multi-cloud or hybrid system landscapes. SAP HANA Cloud integrates advanced SAP HANA technologies for multi-model data processing in memory or on disk. The platform offers benefits such as automatic software updates, elasticity and low total cost of ownership and can be used either as a standalone solution or as an extension of an existing on-premise environment. SAP HANA Cloud consists of two main components that can be subscribed to in the SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP): SAP HANA Cloud, database: This in-memory database offers advanced SAP HANA technologies for multi-model data processing such as graphs, spatial data and JSON document storage. SAP HANA Cloud, Data Lake: A repository for storing and analyzing structured, semi-structured and unstructured data. It provides powerful analytics capabilities for petabytes of data and utilizes cost-effective storage options to reduce costs while ensuring excellent performance and full SQL access to the data. SAP HANA Cloud is fully integrated, shares common security, tenant and tooling concepts, and enables seamless integration with existing SAP HANA database instances or as a standalone data lake instance. |
| Database as a Service (DBaaS) | The SAP HANA Cloud database offers the same performance as the SAP HANA database, but has been developed natively for the cloud. This means improved connectivity and new features. As a DBaaS, SAP HANA Cloud offers more flexibility as SAP takes care of the management of hardware, operating systems, backups and other maintenance aspects. This allows companies to focus on their core competencies while SAP manages the infrastructure. A key difference between DBaaS and traditional database management systems (DBMS) is that with DBaaS, the service provider manages the underlying infrastructure, whereas with a DBMS, the organization or user is responsible for managing and maintaining the infrastructure. DBaaS also provides scalability by allowing users to scale database resources as needed, whereas a traditional DBMS requires manual intervention. |
| Sicherheit in der HANA Cloud | SAP HANA Cloud follows a shared security model where users are responsible for configuring and controlling all options related to data security. SAP, on the other hand, is responsible for the secure setup and operation of the system and the entire infrastructure. Key security features include identity and access management, data masking, auditing and network security. Users are responsible for controlling access to their SAP HANA Cloud instance, while SAP HANA Cloud provides various security measures such as TLS/SSL encryption for connections. |
| Release-Strategie | SAP HANA Cloud has different release strategies at service and component level. The service level includes the administration tools that are used on a daily basis, such as SAP HANA Cloud Central and SAP HANA Cockpit, and are frequently updated in the background. The component level includes database components such as SAP HANA Cloud, SAP HANA Database and SAP HANA Cloud, Data Lake, which are released quarterly and patched for up to seven months at a time. Automatic upgrades are carried out in a maintenance window and users are informed of the upgrades in advance. |
